TOLEDO, Ohio, Nov. 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- In its continuing effort to manage the industry's changing needs and actively support community pharmacists, the Prescription Products division of Owens-Illinois, Inc., (NYSE: OI) recently convened its first Community Pharmacist Advisory Board.
Representing a unique cross section of U.S. independents in terms of geography, practice setting, demographics, and specific market niches, eight community pharmacy owners joined O-I management and staff members on September 18. During the two-day series of presentations and roundtable discussions held at O-I's world headquarters, participants explored:
* vital issues facing the business and profession of pharmacy
* current industry trends and the potential impact of changes and
improvements in prescription packaging
* specific challenges that independents face in today's competitive
healthcare marketplace
* concerns that providers, patients and payers all have regarding rising
healthcare costs
* new product development
Outstanding speakers, presenters, and facilitators included: Joseph Conda, Owens-Illinois vice president and general manager of Prescription Products; Tony DeNicola, president of A & D Associates of New York; Paul Paolello, O-I's industry manager for retail pharmacy; Terry Pflager, managing consultant from Watson Wyatt; Noel Vander, O-I's Prescription Products technical director for new product development; and Terry Wilkison, O-I executive vice president and Plastics Group general manager.
